It is time to officially put an end to the mincing, hesitant criticisms of the American Liberals and the Democrat Party. Actually, it’s long past time. The Democrat Party’s goal is communism.
I have a confession to make: I used to be a Liberal. In the 1988 Presidential election, I campaigned door-to-door for Michael Dukakis. In 1992, I was a full-throated supporter of Carol Moseley Braun, the ultra-social liberal Senator from Illinois who, among other things, supported partial-birth abortion, gay marriage and gun control. I voted for Clinton both times, and, despite thinking he was a knob, voted for Gore in 2000. Please believe me when I say that the Democrat Party’s end goal is communism.
Okay, they won’t call it communism. To the Liberal Democrat (here on out, let’s just call them Democrats because there are no moderate or conservative Democrats anymore), the government is the source of prosperity. Government can succeed in equalizing outcomes, which free market capitalism does not do. Government must dictate what all citizens believe and what they are educated in. Wealth, prosperity, equality, all come from Government. For the Democrat, if there is a problem in society, it is Government’s role to solve the problem.
Example? Okay.
Sandy Hook Elementary School
A madman breaks into the school and begins systematically killing adults and children. It was horrifying. The nation was paralyzed with grief. We all tearfully asked why? Why did this happen? How can this happen?
The answer, is clear. There is evil in the world. Despite the inherent goodness of man, there are evil people who do unspeakable things.
But for the Democrat, the answer is, man is inherently unable to be good. The Government must control man to promote good. The Government must act because the individual cannot be trusted. The Government must wrest control from the individual for the sake of the society. Because, even if we can save just one child, we must act against the individual for the sake of society as a whole.
Dude, this is textbook Communism. And it is textbook Democrat Party.
Then, there is the Government causing a problem in order to solve the problem, in order to gain control.
Need an example of that? Okay.
The Sub-Prime Mortgage Crisis
What better way to gain more government control over people’s money than to create a banking crisis that leaves people fearful for their own financial security?
The Community Reinvestment Act, established during the Carter Administration, and doubled-down on by the Clinton Administration was an exercise in social engineering whose goal was to “create diversity” and promote “social justice” by encouraging banks to make home loans to minorities who would otherwise not have qualified for a mortgage. During the Clinton Administration, banks were threatened with civil rights actions by the Janet Reno Justice Department if they did not lower their mortgage qualification requirements so that people who didn’t have the credit history to pay back a loan to feed a parking meter could purchase a home – often with no money down.
These homebuyers were never going to be able to afford a mortgage. And most of them, because they had no personal equity in the home via a down payment, could just walk away from their home, default on the mortgage and end up in foreclosure.
It was financially crippling for the banks. They had to find some way to not lose their shirts on these reckless, government-forced, home loans.
And the Sub-Prime Mortgage Market was born. These bad loans would be packaged and resold, then packaged and resold. A giant house of cards was being created. In the mid-2000s, the Bush Administration tried to put a stop to what Federal Housing Lenders (aka Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac) were doing. Democrats in Congress (led by Barney Frank and Chris Dodd) obstructed the Bush Administration at every turn. Administration officials were vocal about the danger of not getting the Sub-Prime Mortgage Market under control. But the Democrats stood in the way.
And in the fall of 2008, the house of cards began to crumble.
What was the solution? The Government had to “bail them out.” In so doing, especially with the passage of the Dodd/Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, the Government now has even more control and authority over the banking industry.
[And aside for the “But BUSH!!” crowd: Yes, Bush was involved in TARP. I’ll be the first to say that George W. Bush was not a Conservative. But this isn’t about TARP. It’s about how the Democrats USED this crisis that they fomented to take control of the banking industry.]
The Democrats didn’t just seek to bail out the banks; the Democrats had to demonize the banks. It was those greedy Wall Street Bankers who preyed on poor, unsuspecting people and FORCED them to take out a mortgage that they had no hope of being able to pay back. The Democrats absolved themselves of any culpability, despite the fact they are one hundred percent the cause of the Sub-Prime Mortgage Crisis.
Why? Because Democrats are communists. They want to control the means of production. They want to control the financial institutions. They want to redistribute wealth in order to make all individuals the same – a collective. Because, as Obama likes to point out, that’s what’s fair. To the Democrat, “fairness” is the most important litmus test of a society. It trumps liberty. It trumps private property rights. It trumps the rights of individuals. It trumps out Constitution and system of government. We must make all things “fair.”
Democrats are communists. And if we don’t recognize that and speak clearly about it, we will continue down this road and we will lose this country.
Coming soon:
Part Two: “Shiny Happy Communism”
Diann, nicely done and looking forward to Part Two! The democrats and the left have been moving to communism for 90-100 years now. The question is, “How do we stop them?”
Oh and I forgive you for voting for Slick Willie!

Diann – very well written! But you’ve peaked my curiosity. You need to do a post on your transformation from Liberal to Conservative sometime.
